World Cancer Day – 4th February 2026

Today is World Cancer Day

Many Reflexologists can be wary of treating people with cancer, as they are worried about whether it could make the cancer spread, or impact on the chemotherapy or radiotherapy in some way.

In fact, Reflexology is not a contraindication for cancer AT ALL!

Many hospices, and oncology departments have complimentary therapies, including Reflexology, which can be so beneficial for supporting people through the physical and emotional impact cancer can have on them.

It is safe for Reflexology to be given before, during, and after chemotherapy as it can help with relaxing the person.  There is a myth that reflexology may promote the elimination of chemotherapy drugs (reducing their effectiveness), however this is absolutely not the case. In fact, it is felt that Reflexology can help the body cells to recover/regenerate!

It is also safe to give Reflexology before and after radiotherapy (but not during for obvious reasons!), and again can promote the healing process.

I am trained in Adapted Integrative Reflexology (AIR), which is a beautiful, light and relaxing technique, which treats both feet at the same time. When treating people in palliative care, and with life limiting conditions I will discuss the treatment plan with them, and adapt it as necessary i.e. lighter touch, shorter sessions, and exploring which aspects of reflexology they find most beneficial.

Grounded Holistic Therapies offers foot and hand reflexology both at the beautiful LV Life Wellbeing centre, as well as in the comfort of your own home.  So, you can choose which you prefer.

Just get in touch! 🙂
